The new
AVALON sports a newly developed V6 2GR-FE engine, which
features ACIS (Acoustic Control Induction System) for
improving intake and exhaust efficiency as well as
combustion efficiency, and dual VVT-i (Variable Valve
Timing-intelligent) system for optimizing intake valve
timing. The result is horsepower and torque delivering
performance that outpaces the competition while
providing good fuel economy. |

Super ECT delivers superior acceleration and fuel

A new 5 Super ECT
(5-speed Super Intelligent Electronically
Controlled Transaxle) with flex lock-up system
is adopted to match the increased engine
displacement and horsepower. This provides
smooth gear changes in response to road
conditions, and achieves excellent fuel
efficiency through the use of advanced hydraulic
control technology. A sporty driving feel,
reminiscent of driving a manual transmission
car, can be experienced by placing the gearshift
lever to the S position. This puts the
transmission in multi-mode, where tilting the
lever forward shifts the transmission up, and
tilting it backward shifts down.

Suspension that delivers a superior ride with
stability and control |
|
The new suspension system
is tuned to accommodate the increase in body size and
engine displacement. It delivers a comfortable ride with
superior control and stability during braking and
turning. The larger 215/55R 17-inch tires provide
greater traction and superior straight-line stability as
well as lane changing and turning performance. These
tires also work toward providing a natural sensation
when turning the steering wheel and maintaining
stability during braking. Despite a longer wheelbase and
larger tire treads, the minimum turning radius is only
5.7 meters. The new AVALON handles with the same ease
for driving around town as the current AVALON models.
