History of Land Cruiser

 
The history of the Land Cruiser began from the birth of the Toyota Jeep BJ in 1951. It enjoys the longest history of the current Toyota lineup and is the pioneer of Japanese cross-country type 4WD vehicles. Its durability has a favorable reputation, and has gained absolute confidence as being a car that only breaks under circumstances beyond ones control.
The Land Cruiser has evolved together with each generation for over half a century with 10 successive generation of models. This in an introduction to each successive model.
We asked the various engineers who have been responsible for each generation of the Land Cruiser to talk about its history and development right up to the present.
Because the Land Cruiser is really an extended family, there are many different engines in the series. Here we introduce the engine specs for each of the 12 different types from the original to the current version.
